There's a few key tools that I always have on my desk when making cards. These are the items that I use so frequently that they simply don't get put away.
It's November and the countdown is on! We will be posting lots of holiday card ideas. Here's one using our birch tree (1121G) and stamping it with white ink onto dark brown paper. Adding the punched birch using sparkle paper finished it.
Making a package and running ribbon through a square or rectangle pattern is always a favorite of mine. I probably make a sample every year doing something like this. This year, adding the photo was fun and instead of using pattern paper, I created my own using our damask stamp (1118I).
We have really enjoyed our make n take program this season! Here's another great card using our vanilla harlequin note cards and our new hanging snow gear stamp. We added brads for the knobs.
A close up of a card using several techniques. First, I stamped the candy jars (1123E) on white paper and also stamped the jars on masking paper and cut them out using my detail scissors. I covered the jars with the masking paper and then stamped the tile background (1100I) stamp over the jars and removed the masking paper. Now the jars appear white on the inside. Next, I colored with Copics the candy and made a light blue shadow for the glass. I covered the glass with Glossy Accents to give them the look of glass. It's hard to capture in the picture. Punched stamped image with square scallop punch and mounted onto a brown piece of paper. Layered it onto one of our vanilla harlequin note cards and stamps the greetings along the edge. Tied a little red baker's twine on the side of the card and that's it!
Our light bright tree (1116F) is an easy stamp to shade with Copic markers. I use the darker color around the edges and then fill and feather with the lighter green pen. I add sparkle with glitter glue.
and happy holidays are right around the corner! A good alphabet set is always a basic with stamping. There's always so much you can do. I use mine all of the time, it's something that is always out on my desk. Here I stamped one of our new snowflake stamps (1115F cookie snowflake) for a replacement in the letter O for the word holidays. You could also use a photo.
I started with our brown polka dot note card (4 bar) in size. Then, I punched out a 4" circle using white paper, I used one of the large Marvy punches. I cut a small end of the circle to make a flat edge for the base of the snowglobe. Next, I stamped my snowglobe scene using the birch tree (1121G),petite reindeer (1120C), and feather snowflake (1105B) using Versacolor pinecone and Versamagic seabreeze. For the glitter, I sprayed the entire circle with spray adhesive and then sprinkled loose ultra-fine glitter. This is a great technique that is always impressive on a card. Perfect for the holidays! Then, I glued the circle down to the front of the card and cut around the top in the circle shape and created a base for the bottom. Adding the bow for the final touch.
Here's a fun Halloween card that is fairly easy to create. I love cards with 3-dimension. For this card, I stamped the pumpkin in orange 3 times. And cut out each pumpkin, making each one slightly smaller using the lines as my guide. Then I used my scor-it to fold 2 pumpkins in half, the 2 smaller ones. Add glue to the fold and layer each pumpkin. The green stem I cut free-hand and added glitter, of course!
Another fun Halloween card! We are kicking off Halloween with our skull patch stamp (1061B) to create this easy card. Stamp the skull on white paper and use your detailed scissors to cut out image and glue to an orange card.
